Message from the Principal - Emily Clarke

I would like to acknowledge that –
For thousands of years Indigenous people have walked this land, on their country. Their relationship with this land has been and still is at the centre of their lives. I want to acknowledge prior stewardship of this land by the Wadawurrung people, and the importance of this area as a meeting place for people from many nations over many years.
St Alipius Parish School was founded in 1853 on the Goldfields of Ballarat - the thirteenth non-government school formally registered in the state of Victoria. From these humble beginnings grew the school that we know today - a school that is recognised for its commitment to nurturing the growth of all children within a warm and welcoming, faith-filled community.
At St Alipius Parish School, we are committed to providing quality education that nurtures the whole child; spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally, in an authentic Catholic community. An awareness and deep respect of ‘difference’ is embedded in the inclusive culture of our school where our students, parents and staff enjoy a very strong sense of belonging.
Our core task is education. We deliver a rich and engaging curriculum where thinking is valued, visible and actively promoted through the lens of Visible Learning and an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. Our highly qualified teachers are committed to ongoing Professional Learning which is imperative for learning and teaching in the 21st century. We aim to develop the capacity of all students to be empowered visible learners with aspirational expectations of learning, progress and achievement.
We pride ourselves on the family and community atmosphere that permeates throughout our school. We acknowledge the vitally important role of parents and carers. The staff and parents work as partners in nurturing faith filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world.
At St Alipius we believe in celebrating diversity and creating a rich community that reflects the fabric of our society. It is our priority to ensure that the story of the First Peoples of Australia is a current reality in our school and is woven through each area of the curriculum. We encourage the enrolment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in our school and celebrate the wealth of wisdom they offer our community.
I am honoured to be the Principal of St Alipius Parish School and I look forward to sharing a very positive partnership with you as parents and caregivers. We look forward to a happy and successful educational outcome for your children at St Alipius.
